1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website or web application. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site operators.
Cookies help us keep you logged in, remember your preferences (such as language and theme), and understand how you interact with the Service so we can improve it.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies (Always Active)
These cookies are essential for the Service to function. They cannot be disabled.
- Authentication cookies (NextAuth.js session tokens): keep you securely logged in.
- Security cookies: protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and session hijacking.
- Cookie consent preference: remember your cookie choices.
2.2 Analytics Cookies (Require Consent)
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how users interact with DropSlot. Clarity records anonymised sessions, heatmaps, and click patterns. These cookies are only set with your explicit consent.
- Microsoft Clarity: session recordings, heatmaps, and interaction analytics to improve UX.
Microsoft Clarity Privacy Statement: privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
2.3 Functional Cookies (Optional)
These cookies enhance the Service by remembering your preferences.
- Language preference: remembers your selected language (Polish, English, German).
- Theme preference: remembers your chosen interface theme (dark/light).
3. Third-Party Cookies
The following third-party services may set cookies on your device:
- Microsoft Clarity: analytics and session recording. Only active with your consent. See Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Google OAuth: if you choose to sign in with your Google account. Essential for this authentication method.
We do not control third-party cookies. Please refer to the respective third-party privacy policies for details.
4. How Long Do Cookies Last?
- Session cookies: deleted automatically when you close your browser.
- Authentication cookies: until you log out or your session expires.
- Language / theme preferences: stored in your browser's local storage (no expiry, cleared on browser data wipe).
- Cookie consent preferences: 12 months.
- Microsoft Clarity cookies: per Clarity's own retention settings (typically up to 12 months).
5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can control and manage cookies in the following ways:
- Accept or decline non-essential cookies via the consent banner shown on your first visit.
- Configure your browser to block or delete cookies (see Section 6 below).
- Contact us to withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time.
Please note: disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent the Service from functioning correctly. Essential cookies cannot be disabled.
6. Browser Cookie Settings
Most browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies and website data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies
Deleting or blocking cookies may affect your ability to use certain features of the Service, such as staying logged in.
7. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- Access and receive a copy of your personal data.
- Request deletion or rectification of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing of your data.
- Withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time — this does not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.

8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or for legal and regulatory reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
